# Licenses

Captioneer comes with a **14-day Free Trial**. After the trial expires you need a paid license.

## Activate Licenses

Each license allows **2 active machines.**

To deactivate a machine, go to **Settings >** [**Remove License**](https://docs.captioneer.com/captioneer/settings/remove-license) or use the dedicated online portals below. Your license is then free to activate a different machine.

The **Activate License** and **Remove License** buttons are in the bottom left of the [Settings](/premiere-pro/settings.md) window.

### Remove License

If you have an active Subscription or Lifetime license, you will see a Remove License button. You can remove your license at any time and activate it a different machine.
