How do I install Captioneer?

What are the system requirements for Captioneer?
Captioneer is compatible with Windows and MacOS machines running Adobe Premiere Pro 2022+.

Editing
How does it work?
Captioneer pushes text and timing data from captions to .mogrts.
.mogrts are fully customizable inside the Premiere Pro timeline, Properties panel, Essential Graphics panel, and the Text panel.

How do I edit the caption timing?
Edit using Premiere Pro’s native Text panel or directly in the timeline. See Retiming Captions for a demonstration.
How do I edit the caption design?
Select a .mogrt and open the Properties panel or Essential Graphics Panel > Edit tab. Captioneer .mogrts are fully customizable for any font, color, position, scale, & more.
Can I set up captions on one machine and pass the project to a coworker who does not have Captioneer?
Yes! Collect files using Premiere Pro's built-in Project Manager to pass all project media to coworkers.
Can I create captions for multiple speakers?
Yes! Put each speaker on their own audio track (ex. Speaker 1 on A1, Speaker 2 on A2, etc.). Go to Premiere Pro's Text > Transcription Preferences and locate the "Audio on track" dropdown. Select "Audio 1" to transcribe track A1 with Speaker 1's audio, and then "Audio 2" on A2 for Speaker 2, etc. You can use each track independently with Captioneer.
Where can I find more .mogrts for Captioneer?
New .mogrts are available in the Captioneer Store

Download .mogrts from Adobe Stock, Envato, MotionArray, etc
International
Does Captioneer support international languages?
Yes! You can enter any language into Captioneer .mogrts.
Can Captioneer translate captions?
Captioneer uses the built-in Premiere Pro translate captions features. Adobe currently supports 17 languages for automatic transcription & translation. Watch this video to learn more.
Is Captioneer available in Japanese?
Yes! Captioneer and all 10 .mogrts have been localized for Japanese customers. It is available on Flashback JP.
Is there an international discount?
Yes! If there is a discount for your country, a banner will show up on Captioneer.com.
Troubleshooting
Fonts in the MOGRTs aren't appearing.
A Yellow T symbol on the .mogrt thumbnail inside the Graphics Templates or Essential Graphics panel means the default .mogrt font is not synced to your computer.
All Captioneer MOGRTs use fonts from Adobe Fonts to trigger font auto-sync and allow manual syncing.
Go to Essential Graphics > Browse and drag the .mogrt onto the timeline. Auto-sync process will begin in Creative Cloud app.
Or hit the "i" icon in bottom-right to see the name of the font. Go to fonts.adobe.com and manually sync the font.
My text isn't appearing.
Be sure the font is synced and supports characters for your chosen language (i.e Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, etc). Use the font dropdown inside the .mogrt to change the font.
My text is cut off on the sides.
Captioneer is vertical-first and optimized for Shorts, TikToks, and Reels. The default .mogrts are vertical 1080 x 1920.
For widescreen and square you can:
Scale up the clip with Effect Controls, and then scale down the text inside the .mogrts

How can I copy Effect Controls & MOGRT settings?
Copy Effect Controls "Motion" settings and effects by using Premiere Pro's right-click Paste Attributes command
Copy MOGRT settings by using Captioneer's Copy/Paste commands
Captioneer is inserting MOGRTs or pasting settings slow.
Speed depends on your specific hardware. It is fastest on M1+ Mac machines.
Close panels in your workspace that are not in use.
The Essential Graphics > Browse tab and Graphic Templates panels are known to slowdown Premiere Pro.
Edit locally. All footage, .mogrts, project files, and cache files should be on SSD or NVME drives for the best performance.

Premiere playback stopped working.
On Windows a bug can pause playback after drag + drop of files. Click outside Premiere Pro (ex. onto taskbar or Desktop) and then click back to resume normal playback.
I received an error: "Selected MOGRT file is not valid or not compatible with the current version of Premiere Pro."
Default Captioneer .mogrts are built for Premiere Pro 2025. For older versions of Premiere, download the free 2022+ Legacy MOGRTs.
I received another error code.

Where is my license code?
Your license code is provided in your email receipt and in My Orders. If you purchased from aescripts, your license code is in the aescripts My Downloads & Licenses.
How many licenses do I get?
Each license allows 1 active computer. You can move licenses between machines at any time.
How can I move my license between computers?
Use the online License Manager or aescripts Downloads & Licenses portal.
Or go to Settings > Remove License to deactivate your license code and then activate it on the other computer.
I started with Subscription but I really like it. Can I switch to Lifetime?
Of course!
Purchase a Lifetime license
In the Captioneer Settings, hit "Remove License" to remove your Subscription license
Activate the Lifetime license in Captioneer
Cancel the old Subscription license via LemonSqueezy Customer Portal
Is there a student discount?

What is the refund policy?
30-day guarantee. If Captioneer does not suit your needs, we will refund you. Email support@captioneer.tv with your license key and we will initiate a refund.
Other
Is it available for other editing software, like DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro?
No. Captioneer is exclusively for Premiere Pro because Motion Graphics Templates (.mogrts) are only available within the Adobe ecosystem.
